Goat Grazing Services
River Heights Ranch is a licensed affiliate of Goats On The Go® and proudly serves Dallas, Madison, Guthrie and Adair counties in Iowa with prescribed grazing of noxious weeds, brush and invasive plants, which goats love to eat! Steep hillsides and ravines, overgrown pond and stream areas and poisonous or thorny weeds are no problem for the goat herd. The goats’ job on the ranch is to maintain the property and reduce the invasive plants, eliminating the need for chemicals to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
Herbicides can run off, are dangerous to handle, and lead to genetically resistant weeds. Power equipment burns fossil fuel and produces CO2. Goats go where people can't, eat what most animals won't, and leave behind nothing but fertilizer. Managed goats eat problem vegetation with little damage to desirable plants. Light-footed goats work in rough terrain with little risk of erosion. Seeds are not typically viable after being eaten by goats.
Goats are fun! Goats are hard-working, eco-friendly power grazers of noxious weeds, brush and invasive plants. They also help to minimize tick and mosquito populations.
How Do The Goats Work?
The goats work well in protective solar-energized fencing that we custom install on each job.
The goats arrive by trailer and are monitored daily for wellness and progress. The fencing is moved systematically to ensure efficient grazing.
When the goats have grazed all that they will eat, they are loaded up along with the fence and hauled to the ”goat spa” where their hooves are trimmed and necessary services are provided to ensure their continued health, before going to the next job.
THE GOATS TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING … INCLUDING THE SMILES!
